Any doctor worth their salt will tell you diets dont work. Plain and simple. Surprised?

Drink water.

Drinking lots of water is probably the single most important thing you can do for your health. Water delivers nutrients throughout your body, flushes toxins out of your system and aids in digestion. When you get up in the morning, start with a full glass of water before you start your day (add a little lemon if you like). Then get at least 10-12 additional glasses of water in throughout the day.

Eat slowly.

Chew your food 10-12 times before swallowing. Your saliva starts the digestion process, and if you dont chew enough, your stomach has to work twice as hard and many times you dont get much out of the foods you eat — except maybe some indigestion :).

Split your entree.

When eating out, split your entree with your dining companion. Most restaurants now serve portions that are up to 8 times the recommended serving size. Supplement with a salad, soup or vegetable to complete your meal.

Avoid sodas.

Did you know that an average soda has 14 teaspoons of sugar? Not only are these empty calories and carbs that take you on a blood sugar roller coaster and adds pounds, the sugar also can also cripple your immune system for up to 5 hours leaving your body working overtime and open to infections, viruses and the effects of stress. Drinking one soda a day alone can pack on 16 lbs of unwanted weight! Skip that soda and watch the weight go away. Additionally, recent studies have linked increased soda consumption with certain cancers and a loss of essential minerals like calcium from our bodies.

    Daily Weight Loss Motivation

    When you are faced with the daily challenge of trying to lose weight, you will need to find ways to stay motivated every day. The factors that keep weight loss motivation high include your specific goals, your ability to envision what you want to achieve, and the degree of success you have in the beginning.

    Daily motivation requires a special, concerted effort, and it is not always easy. One great way to keep weight loss motivation high is to find an Internet support group to check in with every day. There are many such chat groups and forums on the web.

    Another idea is to keep a daily journal of your progress, struggles and success. You can keep a record of your daily diet or write in your journal about the journey and challenge of losing weight and the emotions connected to it.

    Weight loss motivation will stay fresh with something tangible that you can look at to remind you of your goals. For example, you can tape a picture of yourself when you were at a more ideal weight to your refrigerator door. You can buy an outfit in your ideal size and hang it in your closet where you will see it every day. There are many books filled with affirmations and inspiration for dieters. Buy one, and read a bit of it every day.

    The motivation to lose weight may not come from the same place every day. If you can develop some strategies for keeping your daily motivation high, you are much more likely to be successful and bounce back quickly if you have any setbacks. Whatever you ultimately see as your motivation for losing weight, you do not have to face the challenge alone.

    There are resources and people available for anyone who takes the time to seek them. Make a daily commitment to do at least one thing in support of your goal, and you may soon find that the behaviors that support weight loss have become second nature to you!

    Sound ridiculous? Losing weight is all about eating and exercising, right?

    Yes, to a certain extent, but unfortunately, concentrating on the physical and ignoring the psychological sabotages weight loss efforts.

    Like it or not, emotions and feelings rule our actions. Even when we know the right thing to do, we often make the wrong choice.

    Let's face it, everyone knows that a rich and luscious piece of chocolate cake provides only empty calories, but does that stop you from eating it?

    Why do you smoke, drink alcohol, use illicit drugs, or engage in any type of self-destructive behavior?

    The reason is literally all in your head.

    Think about this–when tempted to go to McDonald's and have a Big Mac for lunch, would it help if you had a friend to remind you (kindly, of course) how much you want to lose weight, how much fat and extra calories that meal would contain, and in the end that it really wouldn't be worth it anyway?

    Most people would welcome that kind of assistance, maybe begrudgingly at first, but later they would be glad they hadn't downed that diet buster.

    Friends wear out fast, though, so why not turn to automated assistance in the form of recordings and software?

    Recorded hypnosis can work wonders in changing your motivations and way of thinking. Not familiar with hypnosis? No, you won't be forced to quack like a duck or walk into the street in your underwear.

    Nothing could be further from the truth. Think of hypnosis as "zoning in" to your optimal state of functioning. Have you ever been so engrossed in an enjoyable activity that you couldn't think of any else? That is basically what hypnosis achieves. Positive affirmations about weight loss, fear of flying, or smoking make changing these ingrained habits so much easier.

    Developing new habits doesn't happen at the snap of your fingers, however, so plan a long-range goal of at least several weeks to months.

    You might even decide you like listening to the hypnosis recordings so much that you make them part of your daily routine.

    If you spend lots of time in front of your computer screen, consider subliminal software to make changes in your habits and way of thinking.

    Remember when the federal government told movie theater owners they couldn't flash commercials for soft drinks and snacks during films in an attempt to sell more stuff at intermission?

    That's because it worked!
